Financial Times No. 14,839 by GURNEY

What’s not to like in a puzzle with good surface stories and unambiguous cryptic parsing?

Thanks to Gurney for a very enjoyable puzzle. I did see a smattering of theatrical references in answers and a few people in others. Not sure if some theme of sorts is afoot, if it is, drop a comment.

  1. Many thanks Bhavan and Gurney. Very nearly completed with a break during and after a train journey but failed on AMENITIES even when I had ANEN*I*S! Could not get a variation of ameniensus out of my head. To add insult to injury, the spell check here tells me that would have been amanuensis anyway…
    Most enjoyable anyway.

  2. Many thanks, Bhavan, for the superb blog and thanks Urieka also for comment. There is no theme to this puzzle.

  3. Thanks Gurney and Bhavan

Completed this in two short sessions and like Bhavan found it enjoyable with clear, crisp clues throughout. Finished in the SW with STORE and DESERTS the last couple in.

Enjoyed untangling the long anagrams at the top and the bottom of the grid !!
