One more blog from last Saturday’s S&B: Neil @ Cambridge. A crossword that’s themed but not around the Cambridge event.

This puzzle which can be found here: Ballard @ Cambridge , is a joint effort of Serpent (aka Skipjack) and Gervase. The first letters of their real names lead to J.G. , hence Ballard.
For those who still want to give it a go, the crossword by Mitz can be found here: Mitz @ Cambridge . It is a puzzle with some cross references, also one that reminds us of the fact that there’s an election coming up soon.
I did this puzzle the Day After (… the Cambridge S&B). Either it was that or the fact that I solved only Independent crosswords the week before, but I thought this was perhaps as hard as Dante / Rufus can get. An unusual grid too – no less than eight words with 10+ letters.
At the Cambridge S&B several crosswords were handed out, many of these written for the occasion – I counted 7 or 8.
I decided once more to blog these puzzles, in a neutral way and based on the setters’ own intentions.
So, don’t be surprised to see some new names crawling around the familiar ones.
Please, make them feel welcome!

An enjoyable exercise by Falcon, mostly rather easy although the SE needed some extra thinking. Falcon’s crosswords nearly always contain one or two cultural references (esp. novels and films), today he went for music.
Just as I thought the FT doesn’t see daylight on Easter Monday, there was a Monday Prize Crossword which only appeared at the very end of the day on the newspaper’s website. I don’t like stereotyping but this Dante puzzle was indeed full of cryptic and double definitions – no less than 8 of the latter!
An enjoyable puzzle with Crux back in the saddle.
On the whole a Dante puzzle as we expect it to be. Easy, especially the right hand side, but pleasant.
Less than four three two weeks to go!
